I'm more fluffy these days.

Yesterday after work I went to Why Weight?, a program offered through Mayo Clinic’s gym, The Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center. The intranet describes the class as a weight management series that meets all Mayo Clinic employees right where they are on their wellness journey. The program offers weekly weigh-ins, group discussion and skill building. Topics discussed include goal setting, keys to successful behavior change, healthy eating habits, fitness and stress reduction.

So I got weighed yesterday. It wasn’t as bad as I thought though I have gained a bit more than I would have liked since I got married. I think losing five pounds the week before (I got sick) and then moving here and not having a job, friends, or anywhere to go for nearly three months added to that. It’s going to take a while to get it to come off.

I’ll be going every Monday and it will be nice to be accountable for my weight again. I’ll try to post each Tuesday how the previous meeting went. And, if I get brave, I’ll post what I gained/lost and, maybe, what my current and goal weights are.

Anyone have any advice or encouragement for me?

Take it one day at a time. Or one goal at a time. I like to make 10% of my weight my first goal (if you have a ton to lose like me). If one day you splurge, it's not over. Just keep going and add 5 extra minutes to your workout. You can do it!!
