I'm getting old.

I hate when guests at one's house answer their cell phone and just chat. It's not an emergency, just shooting the breeze. It's made worse when there are four calls answered in one visit. Am I so boring, such a bad entertainer my guests must answer their phones to escape enui?

Same with texting. Is it really necessary? Sure, one or two. Any more than that it's just rude.

I also hate it when the neighbor kids climb over the fence to get their ball. (I'm kidding about that one.)

Anyone else on the same page?

Yay! Free stuff!

Thanks, Candice, for the idea.

Here's how it works: The first five* people to leave me a comment get something made by me just for them. It can be anything I want, I get to choose. It can be silly or serious, edible or not, but don't plan on anything alive. There are a few rules involved (aren't there always?):

1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.

2- What I create will be just for you. Or who ever you re-gift it to.

3- It will be done sometime this year.

4- You have no clue what it's going to be. (The choice is mine! --insert evil laugh here--)

5- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange and/or silly.

The catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 (or so) people who do the same on your blog. The first 5 (or so) people to do so and leave a comment telling me they've posted on their blog win a hand made, super creative, possibly lovely whatever in the heck I decide! Be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it.

--update--
Even if you don't want to post this on your blog I'll make you something. I'm a giver.

If I had a wish, round two.

Happy birthday, Cami!

I wish you time to lounge, an H&M in Salt Lake or a trip to any H&M location in Europe, more fun times with Keith, adorable maternity clothes, time to knit and nap, and new shoes.

Minnesota is Head and Shoulders above the rest.

For the first time in my life I have dandruff. From what I hear it's common out here because the winters are so dry and cold. Thanks, Minnesota.

Here are some more interesting tidbits about my life in Minnesota:

I love that there's no sales tax on clothing here.

The side street speed limit is 30 miles per hour. Every time I drive that fast on a side street I think of how the people on Harvard Avenue from 1300 East to 1100 East would have heart attacks if they knew I was going this fast. (I got yelled at to slow down when I was going 26.)

There is no good Mexican food here.

I love my job. It's, by far, the best job I've ever had.

There is no inversion or lake effect snow here.

Or rush hour.

We drive thirty minutes each way to church.

There is no Costco within 100 miles of us. ):

All the gas stations here have the same price all the time. It's weird. Most also advertise how much a pack of smokes costs.

How's that for class?

Cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria.

I'm giving up chocolate. Again. I did this last year for about four months. A few years ago I did it for nine months. I don't remember what threw me off the wagon those times. I'm guessing I wasn't very committed. And Ben and Jerry are so comforting at times.

So I'm off again. Only now I have a counter in the side bar to remind me. Tiff and I are doing this together. If you'd like to join in feel free.
And if you can name the movie quoted in the title I'll give you a gold star.

The sun will come out tomorrow.

I'm sure it will somewhere, but no where near where I'm currently being detained/living.

I went to sign up for the aforementioned boot camp. It's full. It was nearly full at 6:30 this morning. The waiting list is also full.

In other news it's warmed up four degrees to -2 since I got here. Just two more degrees and we'll hit our high for the day.

Remind me, why do people live here??

Jelly legs are a good way to break up the day

I went to the gym on my lunch. I did a five minute warm up on the elliptical and then did abs and a Pilates move my former roommate taught me to tone up my legs.

The ab work out I did was from the DVD that came with my ab ball. Turns out it’s really hard. This is why I’ve done the work out only once in the 2+ years I’ve had it.

The leg work out was what really got me. I didn’t do as many as I should have but it was still a little daunting going down the stairs after.

Now I’m all set to sit for another three hours. Wahoo!

Oh, and I’m also going to sign up for a boot camp thing my gym is doing. I’m putting this out there so I have to do it. Sign ups start on December 15, the class starts in January. If I can get in I’m going to do it. Wish me luck.
