I drew something. All by myself.

Candice and I have been playing DrawSomething.  She's really good.  I am ... less so.  But I am proud of this drawing I made some time last week.

Enjoy.

Q: What does one do when the grandeur is gone?

A: Simple.  Just re-grand.

The fine print:
Monday-Thursday
Exterior only
No vacuum

So ... it's safe to say this deal doesn't suck.

I heart my awesome friends.

In March our amazing group of friends got together to celebrate me. I picked The Cheesecake Factory for lunch. The food is really good, the wait is insanely long even at 3:00 in the afternoon, the prices are even more insane.

The company was even better than the food. And more insane than the wait. Tee, hee. Melissa came, but on her lunch break. Sadly her entire time with us was spent while we were waiting for a table. She's such a good friend to come just to chat with us. She also had a fun story for us, some big news.

The pictures are (from top left, going clockwise) all of us with our food, note the table behind us; my lunch, it's a burger with an egg on top; Wendy's delicious chickeny thing; the bread we took from the table behind us when they left, it was delicious, thanks for asking; Jana's surprisingly delicate-looking salad; MeLynn's sensible soup, half sandwich, and tiny salad.

Of course we had to have cheesecake. We shared two slices, one red velvet the other key lime mango. Our server hadn't ever tried the key lime mango so he tried ours. We adored our server. Sadly he was not available for take out.

It's a little dreary out today, too. Weird!

I've been e-cleaning my blog. I came across this draft I wrote late July, 2008. If you are lucky enough to know Cami this'll make you miss her. If you don't know her this will make you want to know her.

Miss you, Cami. We should get together. Call me. I'm terrible at being the first to call or email.*

Cami's funny.

Cami and I have been exchanging emails today. Here is the closing paragraph from her last email:

I’m also having a hard time focusing right now. I’m sleepy after lunch and ready to go home. It’s cloudy and dark outside; I think it’s going to rain. So that makes me want to go home and cuddle up with a blanket and read or sleep or just look outside and pretend I’m independently wealthy and never have to work again.

*apparently I have no qualms about being the first to post on a public blog. Hm.

It was a sleepover as much as rush hour gets you there faster.

Friday night Wendy, Jana, MeLynn, and I got together for a sleep over at Jana's. There was a guest appearance by Melissa. It was so fun!

For dinner we had a lovely spinach salad and Papa Murphy's deLITE chicken bacon artichoke pizza. And then the real fun started.

Wendy broke out the Fry Daddy. (Though it's so cute and tiny it should be the Fry Baby.) We started with sweet potato fries. Yum! Then we dove in to deep frying pickles. So good! We used a recipe we found on Cooks.com. They were so divine!

After the savory we went for the sweet. We fried a Twinkie, Oreos, Almond Joys, Baby Ruths, Starbursts, and cinnamon bears. Each was delicious.

We stayed up till about 3:30, as per usual. Wendy and Jana introduced us to Kid History. Mostly we talked. Oh, and if there are any guy readers, we had pillow fights and braided each other's hair.

In the morning, which came all too soon, MeLynn made this so very yummy French toast for us. Just what we needed after a night of deep fried stuff. (: We all had three of these beauties. I could go for another half dozen or so right now.

We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends. Especially those who fry candy bars and make breakfast foods like this.

Thanks, ladies, for giving me a night out. It was needed!

I left the house and it was fun.

Last month Candice took me to a Jazz game. She got the tickets from a family white elephant gift exchange. Now that's an exchange I'd like to be part of!

Look how excited we were! For me this was the first time I'd left the house in a very long time.
Of course I took a picture of our feet. Funny enough I'm wearing the same socks right now. (They were a gift from my lovely friend Amber.)

If you've ever been to a Jazz game with me you'll know I spend all my time watching the Jazz Bear or looking for him. Part of the half time show was the Jazz Bear and tiny bears that followed him around. The tiny bears did little summersaults after the Jazz Bear did. I almost died it was so cute.

Our seats were so great! We were behind the hoops and close enough to get those annoying clappy things. They requested we "bring the noise." I assumed the funk would be provided by the Energy Solutions Arena.
It was a fun game with great company. The Jazz won! Plus we all got a coupon for a free taco because something or other happened at the game. (Blocks, three pointers, I don't remember.)

Tonight Wendy, I, and our awesome friends are getting together for another sleep over. I am so excited!! So stay tuned for pics and funny (to us) stories. I know, you can hardly wait.

Here's Your Sign

If it's going on both Friday AND Saturday, doesn't that negate the term "One Day Sale"?

Jessie and I have the BEST friends. This picture was sent to us by one who thought of it specifically for our blog. Thanks, 'Angelfish', for this submission!

Nothing like a near all-nighter

In November I was lucky enough to play hostess to five of the most amazing women I've ever met. We've been friends since elementary school. We like to get together at least once a month. When we're really needing it we do a sleepover.

November's gathering was also in celebration of Janalyn's birthday. I made a cake. Which I ruined but resurrected. It ended up tasting like a giant Oreo. We didn't finish it that night and for that I'm very proud of us.

On one trip to the DI the gods of Fortune and Awesomeness smiled on Jana and she found a totally intact Girl Talk game. Yes, we play that most times we have a sleepover. This round's winner was MeLynn. (She got ten points for wearing a 'grown up piece of clothing' for the rest of the game.) Other fun dares were Wendy put lipstick on Candice's chin (she was aiming for her lips) and Wendy got a manicure where each nail was different.

We stayed up till about 4:00. It was so fun! I can't wait till we do it again. How about next Friday, ladies?

I love my friends.

Today I did something I don't think I've ever done. I wrote on a facebook wall. Yep, it's Janalyn's birthday. Happy birthday, buddy!

This isn't a related pic, but I think it will make you smile. Wendy and I found the Tilamook Cheese tiny van at Brigham City's Peach Days and while Wendy was posing for a picture this guy wandered over and showed us his best side. He was there for several minutes. Good times.

My sister's funny

Yesterday I was Skyping with my sister, Kimmie. She said a phrase in Spanish. The following conversation ensued:

Jessie: I don't know what you said, I don't know Spanish.
Kimmie: You have to know some, you live in America.

Sorry guys, she's taken.

Flash back to October 2008

More pics from when I visited Salt Lake in October.

Candice got her hair cut while I was there. Wendy and I went with. I don't know why she takes us anywhere. She cut off enough hair to donate to Locks of Love. Isn't Candice amazing? Here is Wendy as a partial red head.

Here we are, being adorable. Well, I'm trying. Wendy pulls it off effortlessly.

More pics to come as I transfer them from my camera. Stay tuned.

Overheard in my office

Wendy and I were chatting and she typed out this nugget of comedy:

Yeah, I've heard of that idea before... it's the last half of a good idea/bad idea segment.

18 February, 2009

Yay! Free stuff!

Thanks, Candice, for the idea.

Here's how it works: The first five* people to leave me a comment get something made by me just for them. It can be anything I want, I get to choose. It can be silly or serious, edible or not, but don't plan on anything alive. There are a few rules involved (aren't there always?):

1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.

2- What I create will be just for you. Or who ever you re-gift it to.

3- It will be done sometime this year.

4- You have no clue what it's going to be. (The choice is mine! --insert evil laugh here--)

5- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange and/or silly.

The catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 (or so) people who do the same on your blog. The first 5 (or so) people to do so and leave a comment telling me they've posted on their blog win a hand made, super creative, possibly lovely whatever in the heck I decide! Be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it.

--update--
Even if you don't want to post this on your blog I'll make you something. I'm a giver.

*entries must be received by 11:59 pm, March 1, 2009.

Candice, this one's for you. Or: I miss being thought of as funny by more than just me.

Last week Jeremy and I went to our niece's birthday party. Thanks to the awesome weather here it got all foggy and misty around 8:00 at night. As we were walking to the car, wading through the mist, I said:

This is how horror movies start.

Jeremy didn't respond correctly. Rather, he didn't respond the way I wanted him to. Candice, why don't you tell him what the correct response is?

My favorite zit.

A few weeks ago I had an adorable zit. How can you have a favorite zit, I'm sure you're wondering. I call it this because it was in the same spot my glamourously beautiful friend Betsy has her glamorous beauty mark.

Betsy and I had AP Environmental Science together in high school. It was our senior year. Once she shared her Burt's Bee's lemon cuticle cream with me before I even knew about Burt and his Bees.

When I call Betsy glamorous I'm not just making that up. She can make a pony tail look like it was styled by Kate Spade herself. Can Betsy look fabulous in jeans and a t-shirt? Yes. Can Betsy look fabulous with red, red lipstick and eyeliner that makes her look Egyptian? Yes, at the same time, even. Can Betsy look fabulous even when she doesn't look good? Trick question. Betsy always looks good.

Not only is she so cute she's also so funny! I love this gal. Check out her blog and tell me you don't agree. Oh, she's also single if you're a non-crazy and also single. LDS standards apply!
